Artist Comments

This painting was inspired by the hills and swamps near Uragh Stone Circle. As we hurried towards the circle, the rain began to fall, and the mist it created gave the mountains and swamps an aura of mystery. In John O’Donohue’s book, Anam Cara, he often speaks of how wellsprings quench the thirst of a parched soul. I feel my heart yearning for release from the daily grind and verbal berating. There is beauty around us, waiting to be discovered, and for our souls to heal.  I darkened the foreground so the hill range can feel more distant. I also extended the height of the tree in this painting to accentuate the yearning for growth and release.

Each painting is completed on Yupo paper with Daniel Smith professional fine art watercolors. Yupo is a Japanese branch of graphic paper that keeps color saturated. It doesn’t absorb paint like watercolor paper. So you can get beautiful marbling or crystallization when watercolor pigments dry on the surface. Each artwork is finished with protective archival varnish.  The painting is signed on the front and labeled on the back. I provide a copy of the certification of authenticity with each artwork.

My artwork makes the perfect gift for occasions such as Mother's Day, birthday celebrations, or housewarming. They bring a touch of artistic beauty and elegance to the living room, office, bedroom, kitchen, entryway, or anywhere with a wall!
